Chinese 20th century art and contemporary art

The blend of Western and Chinese art leads to great works. The session 20th Century & Contemporary Chinese Art Evening Sale will present different styles of oil paintings from famous painters. In this category, representative masterpieces by Zhang Enli and Chen Yifei will be showcased.

The oil painting, No Solution, is one of the most important representative works created by Zhang Enli in his early period. Through new expressionism, the painting captures the daily life of ordinary people in the metropolis. It reflects the helplessness and disorder of life in the period of social transition in the 1990s. Water Town by Chen Yifei shows the peaceful and tranquil scene of a southern Chinese riverside town.

Porcelain and works of art

This section will present exquisite porcelain from the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The rare and important Ming blue and white 'dragon' bowl is the highlight. It was acquired by Bluett & Sons, a London antique dealer, from the original collector, General Haughton, in 1948. Later on, Gertrude and Otto Harriman (1948-1970) acquired it from Bluett and Sons, until recently, it has remained within the family collection.

For other the works of art, a 17th century bronze manger shaped furnace and a Song Dynasty yellow jade dog carving may worth you attention.
