35th Quarterly Auctions Totals RMB 300m

The 35th quarterly auctions conducted by China Guardian concluded in Beijing on September 17, raking in about 300 million yuan in just four days.

The Chinese painting and calligraphy category earned 230 million yuan.  Highlights included TIGER by Feng Dazhong, which sold for 3.68 million yuan; CHARACTER by Zhou Sicong went for 1.5 million yuan, eight times its estimated price. And BEGONIA,CALLIGRAPHY by Qi Baishi sold for 1.5 million yuan.

In addition, CHARACTER by Tian Liming sold for 1.15 million yuan, CHARACTER by Li Jin for 920,000 yuan. The classical painting CHARACTER AND LANDSCAPE by Qiu Ming went for 1.44 million yuan, and LANDSCAPE by Tang Yin (1470-1523) sold for 1.38 million yuan.

In the furniture, porcelain and art category, 64.7 million yuan was generated. The highlights were A BRONZE FIGURE OF ZHANGXIAN from the Ming Dynasty (11.5 million yuan), A PAIR OF FAMILLE-ROSE BOWLSANLONG PERIOD (977,500 yuan) and A HUANGHUALI CARVING BRUSH POT from the Qing Dynasty (402, 5000 yuan).

Other notable results included A YELLOW DRAGON ROBE from the Qing Dynasty, which went for 345,000 yuan, and A MODEL OF THE HALL OF SUPREME HARMONY IN FORBIDDEN CITY, which sold for 598,000 yuan.

The ancient books category raked in 6.7 million yuan.
